Frequently Asked Questions
You will no doubt have lots of questions to ask when choosing a school for your child(ren). We have included some for you here that often come up on tours and visits.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the school office on 0118 357 3149 or via office@kidmore-end.co.uk and we will be happy to help.
I live out of catchment, can I apply for a place at your school?
Of course. The number of children in our catchment area is quite small so we often have spaces for children living out of catchment. Many of our pupils travel in from Sonning Common, Emmer Green, Caversham, Caversham Heights, Peppard and beyond.
My child does not attend a pre-school in Kidmore End, can I still apply?
Yes, you can. When an application is made to join our school, no account is taken of the pre-school, childcare nurseries or settings your child has previously attended.
How often do pupils play sport at Kidmore End?
PE and games lessons are timetabled 2 out of 5 days in every year group. We also offer extra-curricular sports sessions to all year groups from Year 1 to 6 before, during and after school. There are plenty of clubs to choose from including: tag rugby, football, running, dance, hockey, cricket and netball.
What sports facilities do you have at Kidmore End?
We may be a small school, but that doesn't mean we don't have extensive grounds and fantastic facilities. On site we have an all-weather pitch where our pupils play a number of sports. In addition to this, we have our own playing fields and adventure playground. We also have fantastic links and relationships with local sports clubs and make frequent use of their facilities. These include The Oratory School and The EYOT Centre.
What time does the school day finish?
All year groups finish at 3.15pm. However, there are clubs running every day (except Friday) until 4.15pm for year groups 1 - 6. Our current clubs timetable can be found here: school clubs. Our on-site after school club for reception to year 6 finishes at 6pm, & runs every day except Fridays.
Do you have a School bus to get my child to and from school?
We do. Our school bus operates daily, both morning and afternoon, with the majority of children using the bus stops at Chazey Close, Chazey Heath and Rokeby Drive, Tokers Green. This free service is provided by Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) and parents, whose children are eligible, are contacted directly by OCC once a school place has been accepted.
If you do not qualify for free home to school travel but are interested in using our school bus, OCC run a paid spare seats scheme (if seats are available on an existing bus route) which you may be interested in.
What secondary schools do pupils go onto?
We have strong relationships with a wide range of state, Grammar and Independent schools. Our recent leavers were offered places at the following schools: Cranford House, Gillotts, Highdown, Langtree, Maiden Erlegh Chiltren Edge, St Joseph's, Reading, Reading Blue Coat & Wallingford.
