Our School
Welcome from Miss Spankie
Thank you for taking the time to browse our website. I hope that you find it informative and that it answers any questions you may have. My name is Claire Spankie, and I am privileged to be leading our lovely village school as Headteacher.
'Be courageous; Be strong; Do everything in love'. (1 Corinthians 16: 13-14)
Kidmore End is a happy, learning-filled primary school, where every individual is valued and can flourish. We strive to provide a learning environment where every child is supported and challenged to enable them to take their next steps in education and beyond confidently and independently. We see our role as a school to not only develop children academically, but to help them grow as kind, caring citizens who are equipped with the resilience needed for life's successes and challenges.
Kidmore End School first opened its doors in 1856 to eight pupils. We have grown over the years and we now accommodate up to 210 pupils in seven classes. In August 2017, we became an academy as part of the Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust (ODST).
We are a successful school, deemed by Ofsted in 2023
to be Good.
We strive to provide a rich and varied academic curriculum, taking part in a range of sporting and cultural events outside school. We provide a range clubs for pupils which are held before and after school. Currently, these include art, sewing, hockey, football, break dancing, science, choir, running and more!
We have wrap around care available on site. We offer an after school club (paid) from Monday to Thursday. A Breakfast Club is also available Monday to Friday.
We have close links with the Church, particularly our local church of St. John the Baptist, and parish community and it is our aim to provide a warm and caring learning environment, based on Christian principles.
Pupils, parents and staff from many faiths have commented that they feel comfortable with the accepting, valuing ethos of the school.
Our school is in a delightful setting and the children are fortunate to be able to play on the large field, traditional playground, adventure playground, all weather pitch and quiet garden. The children in Foundation Stage (Cherry class) have their own outdoor learning area complete with builders' yard and mud kitchen. Cedar class (Year 1) also have their own outdoor learning environment, with gardening opportunities and activities to enhance all areas of the curriculum.
We are committed to ensuring Kidmore End CE Primary School aims for the highest standards. We are a thriving, happy and outwardly facing school serving our local community and beyond. We believe in family and believe that Kidmore End is one happy school family focusing on what is best for our children and community.
I hope that you enjoy browsing the pages of this website which describe the school in more detail. If you are thinking of sending your child here, why not come and see the school for yourself? We regularly hold open days when you can hear more about us and see for yourself what we do, you will find the dates and times in our admissions section. I look forward to meeting you then.
Yours sincerely
Miss Claire Spankie
